Pillar 5
Responsible AI & Cybersecurity Frameworks
Using AI where it adds value, with accountability, and protecting health data against misuse and attack.
Our approach
Technology governance, safety and risk management. As AI scales into clinical decision support and epidemiological forecasting, responsible governance is critical. We help client governments establish ethical AI oversight, auditability for algorithmic bias and explainability (for example with SHAP or LIME), data protection, and zero-trust cybersecurity architectures that protect sensitive patient data.
AI-Enabled Clinical & Operational Support
Machine-learning models for diagnostics, resource forecasting and clinical decision support, deployed under governance. Software packages: MLflow model registry, Validation and monitoring pipeline.
- Identify high-value, lower-risk AI use cases (e.g. forecasting, triage support)
- Set data readiness and local validation requirements
- Establish an AI model registry with local validation before deployment
- Monitor drift and clinical performance
- Scale validated AI with human-in-the-loop and post-market surveillance
- Deliverable: AI use-case portfolio with risk classes
- Deliverable: Local validation protocol
- Deliverable: Model performance and drift reports
Accountability & Redress Mechanisms
Ethical guidelines, algorithmic bias audits, model explainability and recourse mechanisms for patients. Software packages: SHAP / LIME explainability, Fairlearn bias audit, Public AI register.
- Adopt AI ethics principles aligned with WHO guidance
- Assign an accountable owner to every AI system
- Run algorithmic impact and bias audits before and after deployment
- Set up a complaint and redress channel
- Publish transparency reports and a public AI system register
- Deliverable: AI ethics framework
- Deliverable: Algorithmic impact assessments
- Deliverable: Redress procedure and transparency reports
Data Protection & Cybersecurity
Protection of personal health information in compliance with privacy law and recognised security standards. Software packages: Keycloak (IAM / SSO), Wazuh / OpenSearch SIEM, PKI.
- Classify health data and define a minimum security baseline (ISO 27001 / 27799)
- Implement identity & access management with MFA for clinical systems
- Set up SOC / SIEM monitoring and incident response linked to the national CERT
- Make DPIAs, encryption and audit logging mandatory
- Run red-team and resilience exercises; move to zero-trust architecture
- Deliverable: Security baseline (ISO 27001 / 27799)
- Deliverable: DPIA template and register
- Deliverable: SOC runbook, incident response plan, penetration test reports
